One Only Kid

Sometime later, after Moses has fled from Egypt and lives the life of a shepherd in Midian, what begins as an ordinary day watching his flock, takes a distinctly unordinary turn. The Bible tells us that he encountered an Angel of the Lord out of the midst of a bush, and is told to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

But why is Moses chosen for this task? Again, the Bible is silent on this most fundamental question. The Prince of Egypt hints of a Moses worthy of the task, for he goes through the trouble of attempting to retrieve a little lost goat--and it is this small deed, which leads him to the bush itself [0:42; forty-two minutes into the film]. We can see that this reflects the well known and oft-retold story recounted in Midrash Rabbah.
