A Loving Pharaoh?

The young Moses of The Prince of Egypt is shown to have matinee idol good looks and a close relationship with the Pharaoh. The affection in the film when the two of them are alone and Pharaoh tenderly places his hands on his adopted son's shoulders [0:10; ten minutes into the film].

Later, he gently places a hand on Moses' head while he attempts to reassure Moses that he had little choice in ordering the death of the Hebrews' male children [0:27; twenty-seven minutes into the film].

Though the Bible does not disclose the nature of the relationship between Moses and the Pharaoh of his youth, Midrash Rabbah provides some detail.
