Sierex Esaddii
Sierex Esaddii is a 34 year old converted Shadow
Sprite. He is Janus Zeru's biological father as well as Shaela's
step-father. He's the king of Zeru, but his power seems to be restricted
to foreign policy were as Queen Jena handles domestic issues. His
personality is similar to Janus's in some ways. He's kind of rude
and sarcastic as well as cold at times. Honestly, he's a bit of jerk.
However, he's very intelligent and handles things efficiently. He
puts much more thought into what he says and how he acts than Janus ever
does. He scolds Janus for this early on, telling him that he's bound
to end up "a cocky little brat without a head if he thinks he can get away
with anything because of his bloodline." He seems to treat Janus
harshly, but it's really because he cares about him and realized that his
son needed to be taught different things than an ordinary child if he was
to survive. He recognized that Janus would be Guardian Shadow long
before the mark on his forehead appeared. No matter what Janus says,
however, Sierex is NOT crazy. Sierex is well known for his combat
skills. He assists the Mystic Guardians on several occasions until
he's paralyzed while protecting Janus. He doesn't live much longer
after that. He leaves Janus knowing that he's half shadow sprite,
but yet not knowing how that will effect him among other things.
Sierex was very close to Shaela, and his marriage to Jena was for love
(unlike her previous betrothal), so his death left the entire family devastated.
Sierex has a very intriguing past. He
was born on Sombren in the heart of the Dark Sprite's domain. His
parents were both Shadow Sprites who refused to become Dark Sprites.
It was from them he learned about the Guardians and that they would someday
come and end the rule of the Dark Sprites. However, without those
Guardians Shadow Sprites who were not Dark Sprites were sentenced to death
and killed when they were uncovered. When his family was uncovered
they renounced their Spritian heritage (they gave up the long life of sprites
as well as their requirement to complete a task before earning a mortal
soul so that they'd be more human) and then used the Gatekeeper Sword to
escape to Kwancha. The Dark Sprites followed them and both of Sierex's
parents were killed as they fled. Alone, he was taken in by an older
noble family in one of Kingdom of Zeru's providences and raised by them.
No one ever suspected that he was not a maolyn, since he looked to be one,
until he declared himself to be a Shadow Sprite on his deathbed.
