Introduction

This document describes digital-effects processor settings to produce a reverberation effect reminiscent of a fairly small stone-lined room. It is based on the stone rooms used by many recording studios for recording drum tracks. Although the settings given refer specifically to the Sony HR-MP5® processor they should give usable results on other units. However, best results are always obtained by experimenting with the settings to get the right sound for your own effects-processor in any given application.

Using the effect

This effect produces a close sounding small room reverberation pattern. It has a pronounced character, so use with care.

Effect-block structure

The way in which the effect-blocks are chained together (structure) can have a significant effect on the resultant sound output. For this reason you should try to ensure that the effect-blocks are linked in the correct order to realise best results with this effect.

Structure 2 chains the two effect-blocks in series as stereo blocks, but in reverse order. This is equivalent to linking together two discrete stereo effects-processors one-to-another.

Therefore the signal path for this effect is as follows:
  1. Equalisation
  2. Room reverberation
  3. Vibrato
