March's game summaries

Calgary got a little help from the officials to defeat Tampa 2-1. The Lightning had a goal disallowed for having a player in the crease. Stephane Richer was called for interference and then picked up a 10 minute misconduct. The Lightning failed to capitalize on a 2 man advantage in the third period which had given them a golden opportunity to tie the game. Darcy Tucker picked up Tampa's lone score.
Tampa was beaten by Edmonton 4-2. Former Lightning defenseman Roman Hamrlik got the game winning goal on a power play. The Bolts once again had a goal disallowed. Stephane Richer scored twice on the power play, but also got a double minor penalty and another 10 minute misconduct.
Vancouver continued it's 5 game winning streak by downing Tampa Bay 5-2. Darcy Tucker got a short handed goal and Paul Ysebaert finished the scoring for Tampa. Pavel Bure scored a short handed goal and added an empty netter. Mark Messier scored on a delayed penalty call.
Tampa beat Colorado 2-1 in Denver. Stephane Richer led the way for the Bolts, picking up both goals. Richer is on a tear, scoring 12 points in his last 11 games, including the only goals in the loss against Edmonton. The Lightning killed 7 power plays, including one with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The Avalanche pulled Patrick Roy for an extra skater for a 6 on 4 advantage, but it did not work. Richer almost had a hat trick, but missed the empty net.
Edmonton shutout Tampa 2-0 at the Ice Palace. Mark Fitzpatrick stopped 30 of 31 shots for the Lightning, who could not manage to get one goal. The Oilers added an empty-netter at the end of the game. Tampa had just finished an 8 day, 4 game road trip and looked tired.
Lightning beat Chicago 1-0. Goalie Mark Fitzpatrick got his first Lightning shutout, making 37 saves. Alex Selivanov scored the game's only goal. Pavel Kubina picked up an assist in his first NHL game. Tampa was robbed by the referee, who paved the way for Boston to win 4-3 in overtime. The Lightning came back with 3 unanswered goals for the apparent victory when the Bruins crashed the net on a short handed opportunity. The play should have been halted as soon as the Bruins touched the puck. Stephane Richer was high sticked and laying on the ice. There was a player in the crease, the red light never went on, but referee Dennis LaRue did not even go upstairs for a replay, calling it a goal and that tied the game 3-3. And last but not least, the puck never crossed the goal line. Boston won less than 2 minutes into the overtime. Corey Spring got his first NHL goal in the game.
Tampa beat Vancouver 4-2 at the Ice Palace. Darcy Tucker scored a goal and had 2 assists. Stephane Richer got 2 goals and 2 assists. Jody Hull got a goal and 2 assists. The line of Tucker, Richer, and Jody Hull did all the damage, getting 10 points while covering Mark Messier's line, which includes Pavel Bure.
The Lightning thrashed their cross state rivals, the Panthers, 5-1. Mikael Renberg got a natural hat trick to lead the scoring. 2 of Renberg's goals were on the power play and 1 was short-handed. Alex Selivanov picked up 3 points in the game, which also featured 166 penalty minutes. Mikael Andersson had his first fight in his 13 year NHL career, which he won. The fightfest featured 5 fights, 4 10-minute misconducts, and 2 game misconducts Jassen Cullimore got his first goal of the season.
It took overtime but Montreal beat Tampa 2-1. Stephane Richer got Tampa's only goal. With Lightning killer, referee, Dave Jackson calling the game, several infractions by the Canadiens were overlooked. Darcy Tucker missed an open net hitting the crossbar.
St. Louis edged Tampa 3-2. Brett Hull scored 2 goals and Al MacInnis got 1 to lead the Blues to victory. Mikael Andersson scored an unassisted goal and Mikael Renberg with less than 1 minute left in the game. The Bolts had pulled goalie Mark Fitzpatrick for a 6th skater when Renberg scored.
Tampa was crushed by Montreal 8-2 in Jacques Demers' hometown. The Bolts gave up a short-handed goal on a 4 minute power play. Alex Selivanov and Paul Ysebaert scored for the Lightning.
The Lightning knocked off the Rangers 3-1 in New York. Rookie goaltender Zac Bierk picked up his first NHL win. Jason Bonsignore started the scoring for Tampa Bay and Mikael Andersson added 2 goals for the victory.
