| Before 15-09-1999 | This site has been brought online on 15-10-1998. I made it for school. All the students had to make a website. The website had to include frames, links, images, and a form. I chose Dimmu Borgir, my favourite metal band, as the subject. I had a web account on the DDS (De Digitale Stad) and I decided to upload the site. Somewhere in June 1999 I added metanames and I registered the site to some search engines. Visitors started to come. I started to like updating the site more and more. I joined the Dimmu Borgir webring and a voting booth (The sites of Immorak). These things brought me many visitors, so I joined more voting booths and webrings. After a while I created my own voting booth called the Dark Sites Voting Aeon. The first month only Immorak joined. So I searched the Internet for good metal sites and I wrote down those E-Mail addressed. I wrote a mail to a few of those sites (only the ones I really liked) and the next day the vote booth exploded. About 20 people joined within the first days. Almost twice as much people as I mailed. When it still was really quiet on the voting booth I received an award. I created the section awards to put it in and I also created my own award: the Dark Sites Award. It really surprised me that people wanted it because I'm don't consider myself good in graphics and I never expected that someone would see that image as a price... But people do want it. I have to put the requests in a queue now ! I decided to create a webring, the Dark Sites Webring, so all the people from the booth and all the other interested can add their site and also increase their webtraffic. A week ago I created a banner exchange called the Dark Sites Link Exchange. The first one who joined was again Immorak. He really has a good nose for these things. Today I have sent a mail to all the people who joined the voting booth and invited them to join the banner exchange. I hope there will be many sites in it soon. |
