History of Red Clay Teapot

The red clay teapot simply has been one kind of tea sets, the reason why we pay attention on it is that it has a historic position on the development of tea culture. Its simplicity and aesthetics deserves an introduction in anything concerned with tea culture.
Chinese tea set has a crockery-to-porcelain history. When it comes to Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty, porcelain has reach a rather high position. Why red clay teapot, one kind of crockery can be such a success? Why red clay teapot could be such an enthusiasm in several dozen years? Why so many collectors spend their lifetime savings to buy red clay teapots?
People in Ming dynasty have a high comment to red clay teapot. Yidu teapot notes said: anyone wants to compare, he can't omit red clay teapot. Yangxian famous teapots said: red clay teapot endure several decades. Despite of thousands of gold never exchanges. A good red clay teapot in Ming dynasty could be as the same price as a middle-class family's belongs. Up to now, red clay teapot even becomes somebody's lifetime objective. My explanation to such phenomena is because 2 causes: one is physical need, one is psychic need.
Green tea is very popular in china in ancient days. The sand teapot observed smell easily while green tea is good at its excellent smell, so it's not proper. When it came to Ming dynasty, zymolytic tea and half-zymolytic tea appeared. This kind of tea turns sour easily when in porcelain, and it requires a very heavy smell. So sand teapot became popular because its characteristics. This is the physical base.
But the population of red clay teapot is basically because special social background.
In Ming dynasty, especially in late Ming dynasty to early Qing dynasty, social contradiction became more and more complex. The literati in early Ming dynasty were in pursuit of primitive simplicity. In late Ming dynasty, many thinkers had no idea to solve and release the contradiction of the society. So the literati and thinkers began to search peace and perfection in their mind. So they became more and more strict in their works, books poets and literatures. Even tea and everything concerned with tea, they want everything to be perfectly done. So teapot, as a necessity of literati, could be philosophical.
